Well, with new Intel CPU out now, here is what I am looking at. As I said before, going to try a Nvidia based system. If you were to build one based on Nvidia, how does this look? Anything better or faster?

Come on Nvidia boys, what say ye?

One question I am thinking about, two or three vid cards? Anybody hear any good things about that?

I will say with SLI you will want to stay with the stable driver release, don't go getting the beta driver, because you will have issues. With 3 or 4 way SLI you want to stay a release behind, unless you need the new driver for a new game.

Just looking at those cards, I can say you can get cheaper cards.... (I know you like spending money or these things) but if you buy the cards individually you can get a better deal for the same speeds. As far as manufacturer I prefer XFX, but they don't have a card as fast as the one you have picked out.

So for two cards with the same speed, I suggest buying two of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143144

Nvidia is very good about compatability so it shouldn't matter who the cards are from, even two cards from different manufaturers should work with SLI... so now worries if you want to upgrade later.

I am interested in knowing how this system build goes.

4-way sli=quad-sli (2 GPUs per card on a 790i ultra board using 2... 9800GX i think, slightly not as good as 2 or 3 280gtx's)

either way, deff dont go with quad-sli if u want an i7 core right now... just to narrow ur decision for how many cards.

Well, I am still undecided. I think I am going to wait for holidays and hopefully somebody will be having a deal, but its Nvidia ftw (right now anyways).

Big D, XgrinderX talked me into Nvidia on my recent purchase with the Intel chip as CPU. I love it. I have two vid cards in the SLI configuration and it is amazing. Hope it helps bro!
