it's in danger of losing funding. unfortunately I doubt this one will make it. I thought this property would transfer well to the MMO platform too.

Further Stargate Worlds Pessimism

[Apr 06, 2009, 11:16 am ET] - 6 Comments
Fansite GateWorld has further indications that the Stargate Worlds MMOG in the works at Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment may never see the light of day. Following rumors late last year that developers on the project were not being paid, and a more recent lawsuit over unpaid bills, there is a new interview with Stargate executive producer Brad Wright, who has consulted on the game, expressing pessimism: "We don’t know," they quote Mr. Wright on the topic, as he goes on to say: "It’s a shame. If it doesn’t happen — and, let’s be honest, it should be happening now if it was happening. It’s a shame. It’s a terrible shame." He goes on to elaborate: "They had an opportunity and they got our support, and they obviously had significant funding, and it didn’t happen. It’s kind of a drag for the fans and the time that we invested — what little of it there really was, in comparison to what they did — was still a shame that it was wasted, because it should have happened." Thanks GamesIndustry.biz.

Stargate Worlds Deadline Nears?

[Jul 24, 2009, 10:04 am ET] - Share - 3 Comments
MMORPG.COM reports August 1 may be the deadline for Firesky to raise funding to continue development of Stargate Worlds, the planned Stargate MMORPG. There have been lots of rumors about the state of this project, but very few hard facts, and the new report doesn't change this trend, as it is an unconfirmed report quoting an anonymous former employee who tells them MGM is set to pull the license for the project if August 1 passes with no additional funding in place. According to the report, the best prospect for an investment in the project is a group of doctors considering an $8 million investment, which would apparently "keep the company alive, allow it to pay off back wages and launch Stargate Worlds," but their source does not believe that the deal will get done.
