Modern Warfare 2 since the release

Alright so a lot of people dislike IW and MW2, but I still bought it anyway. So if your wondering how the game is without buying it yourself, I can tell you that I'm not really bothered by the whole crappy IWnet thing...

...but that's because I'm more pissed at the game itself. >.< Loading times are erratic and take forever, game lobby reports 0 players online, TDM works on and off, intermissions are sometimes more than a minute, textures don't always load up right, font looks too pixelated even after you change res, SP stutters... even in the loading screen, blackscreens are prevalent during menu changes, virtual memory runs low (even when 2GB RAM is more than enough for this game), and, oh god, don't even dare press the Windows key or alt+tab out of game. In other words, the game has more bugs than a room at Motel 8. Seriously it's annoying to the point where these problems overshadow the MP limits.

Well they had to rush it, wouldn't want to disappoint the console players. But I can confirm Mark's post, loading times are longer than MW, had issues seeing the servers...etc.

I didn't have a problem with textures though, nor the pixelated text.

:( Exactly what MW1 was like for me on this connection, that "rubber band" lag is caused by a Windows service that I can't seem to remember the name of... :noidea: But if you Google "WLAN Optimizer" you'll find a program I use to disable all that mumbo-jumbo. Works wonders in any MP game I play.

But anyway, I too am having problems with IWnet connecting me to a decent host.

I heard they're gonna release a fix soon, hopefully by the end of the week. until then, i guess there isn't much to add at the moment except that my game freaks out when i try joining mp on extra spec/map resolution

Oh well, for weeks and months I was looking forward getting online with y'all again. And now this mess happens :( This really sux. Anyways, I read somewhere on the forums here, that there may be a playable demo for BF2 BC2 being published in December. I watched some of the trailers and got my hopes now up for it :o Still love y'all :D

What the heck, even if I only play the single player it'll be worth it. Mine's working great so far in single player. I'll report back after I try MP.

hey, some people are starting to like it; that's nice cuz i was gonna feel left out because now i'm liking the game.

after a bit of playing around with settings, i don't get the serious bugs i've experienced before. It takes me about 15 seconds to load a match up, which is ok. As soon as they get a patch going, i'm sure it will be better. As far as i've played, the MP is pretty good because the new perks and so forth make up for the 18-player cap.

As I've already said with some people before, the game pretty much starts to grow on you.

i'm sure the game is fun but just understand you're validating their strategy of removing what are industry standard features that guarantee communities like Jett will not spring up around this game. Just my opinion but I don't care how good the single player is...i will not reward them a sell for essentially taking a giant dump on the PC community. They did not make a PC game here...they made a Xbox360 game and recompiled for PC.

not to mention the complete lack of customer service they have shown to the PC community on their official forums....

oh and just my opinion again but:
3-4 hour single player != worth $60

I absolutely understand what you're saying. The game is by no means a replacement for CoD4 to me because they're not comparable as two PC games. MW2 is simply another good game, but it's undeniable that if they continue to step into this direction, they will lose the PC community in the longrun.

3-4 hr SP + spec ops + mp= worth 20, because that's what I got if for at gamestop! lol

Ok just finished the sp. Best time I've ever had playing a sp shooter. Very entertaining and I don't feel bad about spending the money at all now even is the mp dosen't pan out which I'm about to try.

OMG did I screw myself at Makarov's safehouse. I ran outside messin around and got autosaved by shed and the position to defend was inside. doh! I had to take my 203 and blast my way in before they took it. Way fun, must have takin me 50 trys but loved every minute of it. I played it on the 2nd hardest level so it took me more like 10 hours. I did alot of parts over 10 times to get thru it. U can change difficulty but I like it almost to hard to get thru. It makes you buckle down and figure out a good strategy.

Alot of fun aspects to the game to. If you have the pc to run it don't hesitate to buy it just for the sp alone. It's easily king of the hill and I think the RS crowd should like it too. Fun ending also by the way. You can't turn off music either but because it's usually total havoc it dosen't matter stealth wise but it does lend drama to the game and make you feel like your in a movie. I got more hyper because of the music during certain parts. Especially during the running jump mountain climbing part. lol

Disc 1 loads and I get the window saying insert disc 2, but when I try to eject disc 1 it won't, and a 2nd window pops up saying the drive is in use. I waited for a half an hour to see if it would finish and let me eject 1 and insert 2 but nothing loads the entire time and I have to stop the install to finally eject disc 1. I'm out of breath and out of patience. I've tried every fix I could find, but none worked. Any of you game wizards have a hand up for Ol' Tracker? I thought it was a defect but I exchanged and the new one does it also. Since I'm stuck with it, I'd like to at least give it a run. Help!!!

Have you rebooted your computer?

Thanks Willow! Yes, several times, and I've attempted the install several times on both of my disc drives, with both the first copy and the second copy I exchanged it for. DSRU has given me some instructions to try though. He said click on Start, cntrl panel, system, hardware, device mgr, R click on cd and uninstall, then restart the pc and let it reinstall cd drivers, and attempt to install the game again, but I haven't had time to try it yet. Maybe this will work. Also, I haven't had any other trouble with either of the disc drives when using them for any other games or cd's.

I am enjoying the shit out of the SP gameplay. Awesome graphics and just as good as the first one. I have not tried MP yet, I want to finish SP first. Worth it to me!

that really sucks, tracker. so it doesn't work even after you let the drivers for your disc drive reinstall itself? how about trying to uninstall steam and then download the latest version?

and this might sound obvious in the process, but you eject disc 1 first, then insert disc 2, close it up, wait a few secs, and then press 'ok' on the steam window, yeah?

To elaborate on Marker's suggestion, have you already entered your key to register the game with steam, if so can you install it through the steam installer?

Thanks marker, I did try all those more than once. I've lost interest for now, but if I ever give a hoot' I'll install from steam as Liquid suggests. Thanks Liquid. It's more than likely some sort of inadequacy of my geriatric pc, and may need some Geritol, as in driver detective and updates.

Picked up MW-2 lastnight along with a new graphics card, GeForce GT220 with 1GB. I already see a big performance boost in COD4 and 5. Maybe I'll have a chance in catching Omega sneaking up on my back with that dull knife he carries.

Well, I personally have been enjoying the game on Xbox since it released. I understand why PC users are frustrated; but honestly, look at the history of PC FPS games....cheats, cheats, cheats....and don't forget about the upgrades too. May be one of the reasons I am now on my 3rd Xbox console.

When you really sit back and look at it, more money is made from console gamers than PC users these days. PC gaming is becoming a thing of the past.

cheats are not that big of a deal and don't forget PC gaming is what made call of duty to begin with.

pc gaming is far from dead and will continue to be the more cutting edge platform for most game genres. it's just easier to develop for consoles so once a particular game sales well on consoles then it doesn't surprise me that big companies will focus their attention at consoles for the cheap buck. BUt look at Dice.....they made Bad Company for consoles only and are going the other way with now supporting Bad Company 2 on the PC.

I'm playing the freebie BC2 demo on PS3 right now. Only one map but it is pretty fun so far. I fail at the damnable analog sticks.

PC gaming will never become a thing of the past. Far from it. I would dare say that the only reason Xbox360 is as successful as it is, is due to the fact it is a restricted PC. Developers can easily create a game for the 360 and the PC at the same time. Frankly it amazes me how many games are coming out these days across all 3 platforms. All of them must be quite successful to justify the expense of developing and testing against all 3.

I thought everyone posted their game names for MW2 but can't find it. I got a new VC too the Nvidia 275 GTX and I'm rockin in mp now and I'm havin a riot. Dragon Age looks unbelievable and plays great too.
