We should do some blind recruiting to fill seats in our cod4 server. We could even set up a member group just for these people. We could ask everyone that joins our server to join the community. Then filter through them as we get enough people. Otherwise its going to remain 3v3 when we get enough senior members playing.
What are your thoughts on how to fill up the server? What do you think of my suggestion?

I wish I could play...... but have to wait on ISP to get more BW or Cable.. soo...
My Thoughts, I think recruiting should be done in COD 4 kind of like how it was done for WoW. We can start with a COD 4 sect, and if said members prove to be interested and would like to join the Community as a whole, then terrific.

Sorry for the trolling, but if you do this I can guarantee you'll have the same problems as we've had in Raven Shield. Keep in mind that WoW and fps games have different goals and structures; thereby, a different audience of people who are desperate to join 'clans.'
does it needs a very good connection to play cod4 online?

Those of us who can and do play COD more frequently, might try to set a trend by joining more regularly and waiting even when empty. If we get a core group started and in there more frequently, more may follow. It seemed that way to me in both CSS and BF2. It may be slow at first, but if we keep it up I would think it would pick up. Any support for this theory?

The problems the RS group has experienced is because you guys dont have a clue how we admin the servers. It has nothing to do with a fps/mmo difference, etc. Our CS servers ran smoothly for the most part for many many years because of how jett ran the server. The RS servers werent really admined by the Jetts and so you RS CCs werent really taught how we do things.

I think you are right Tracker. What time do most peeps get on? I can probably make a habit of getting on for an hour or so on week nights for a couple of weeks to help out the cause. If I don't get wife aggro for it, I may be able to continue :) Do most of you get on around 6? 7? When?
Also, don't take what Bakka said personally or negatively Yellow.....that's actually OUR fault for not taking the time to properly train all the RS admins.

You're right Bakka,
Admining the server & taking care of things is one thing. The issues come when the more experienced are not present when the problems show themselves and erode what is done when they are there. This is precisely why I advise against blind recruiting in that the selection process of people wearing any kind of tag may bring a bad face to the server's real admins & Jett as a whole.
I compared WoW against fps in that in WoW it is actually beneficial for people to have positive relationships with other players and work as team members in order to earn higher ranks & trinkets or whatever you guys collect. This is certainly not the case with a lot of fps games where your score/achievements are based on the current round. Teamwork, while its promoted and integrated into the maps/missions, is only really for the moment. Moreover, REALLY think back to your CS days, remember all of the losers who joined clans just to have a tag/admin powers/feel a part of something. Do keep in mind that there are many impatient and self serving people (which fast paced fps games attract).
If there is blind recruiting, make sure that they are made of into their own group before even becoming comm members. Looking back on it, that is what we should have done with RvS. If I could shift things, the current RvS CCs such as myself should be comm members and the comm members which we have recruited should be probationary comm members. Things might have been easier like this.

Bingo. These would be JettComm Initiates, [JCI]-Name. We would pitch it as you can be in another clan and a community initiate. After all its a community and it's only for fun. This will relax the the stigma of allegiance for some of the newer players. Of course to be a CC or higher you must only be in our community/clan.
Lets get people to the site and server in mass quantities. Once we have people in the server and site we can add bleach as needed. Remember this would only serve the purpose of filling up the server. If we manage to gain a few valued members from the process then I would call it a success.
What do you think the best plan of attack is for this strategy?

Only way to fill the server up is for those that can, camp out in the server and try to build it up. Pugs aren't going to join an empty server.

As I stated earlier, pick a weeknight time (preferably before 8) and I will come play for an hour or so every week night (other than Monday) for two weeks straight to help build this up. If we can get 5 or 6 other people to commit to this then I think it could start growing.

How bout we stroke our CURRENT MEMEBERS and not worry about RECRUITING! I believe we need to support the people that stuck with us over the years and to be quite frank, screw the rest! Without a positive supporting base, new recruits would just shit on us and leave for the next bright shinny light. Support the ones that support us and shit will go in the right direction.

CS (pre-source) servers were also run smoothly because of easy admin toos while in game. I haven't seen anything come close to what we had since developers tried to add those options into their code.

Perhaps, but before we need any tools, we have to have players. COD uses standard RCON commands which got us by for years in the CS days also.
