video card connector problem

Well this is the stroy.about 2 weeks ago i bought a new pc with a new videocard offcurse,the new video card was a geforce 8600 gts,it worked well the first week,altough every time i turned the pc on it would tell me that there wasnt enough energy on the videocard probably due to the lack of a special connector who should go from the videocard directly to the power supply.After having fun for the first week with all the amazing games this new videocard allowed me to play i started having problems with all the games,the games would show with video errors like i showed on the last post i made,i call the one who sold me the computer and he said that it was because of the connector missing,he said he was gonna order one of those connectors and when that was ready i wouldnt have any problems,the problem is that when he got the connector it was a 4 pin connector and the one needed was a 6 pin connector,i want to say that the videocard didnt come with this connector,nor did the power supply,finally the one who sold me the pc decided to put me a new power supply with that connector included but i will have to wait till next week.My question now is:how can the videocard dont come with that cable which is needed in order to run it?is there anything i can do to fix the problem without having to wait till a new power supply is installed?will the videocard keep running well after the connector is installed having used it for a week without the connector?,has anyone of u experimented this problem before?.

The 6 Pin connector is standard on all G80 and up Nvidia Cards. It comes off the PSU, I don't believe their is an adaptor for it. As for your video card working after this, I don't know if it's damaged or not, will have to wait and see.

there is an adapter for it, it came with my 7800 GTX, it is a 2-4pin molex to 6pin graphics card cable....
