Exclamation Well, anybody willing to help?

Probably not the best time to be asking this with all the inactivity, but it is time to renew our vB license.

Unless we go to a WHOLE new software to run our site, its going to cost 250.00 to upgrade. You can not renew 3.85 and only path available isto go to 4.01

So, I will need donations to at least get close to the 250.00, I will put in 50 but will need help for the remaining 200.00

Unless we can find a alternate to vB, our license expires on August 10th and this page will no longer be available. I have a message into them asking why I can not just renew our 3.85 and I will see what they say.

Anbody know any good CMS? I have a test site we can load it up on, but need some direction. Dont need money now, but if you can, let me know you are willing to help and I will add you below. Once needed you will be asked to send to my Paypal. I dont want to collect money unless we reach the 250.00 target.

Doantions to vB version 4:

DSRU - 50.00
BBQ - 20.00
Razorfight - 15.00
Omega - 15.00
Cryten - 20.00
Tank - 15.00
Console - 20.00

TOTAL- 155.00

So, how long is this registration fee gonna last for us? Any particular amount of time?

I'll pitch in $15.

so just so you know VB4 is a whole new piece of software. It is quite a bit different that vbulletin 3 and will take a lot of effort to setup to look anything like you have currently.

How come you have to renew? Aren't they indefinite? I know mine is....

oh yeah a few other things....

it looks like what you are looking at getting already comes with CMS so you don't need to go find something third party. If you don't want to use their CMS and want to go use a third party cms DON"T get the publishing suite version. Save yourself money and get the forums only version.

To be honest the CMS they ship is ok but to me not worth the money. Vbulltin 4 itself comes with a really nice templating engine where it's not hard to plug in your own CMS for as small of a site we have here. Also there are mods on the vbulletin forum you can download that do a decent CMS job if you're just looking to plug and play something.

If you do go this route I can help you get through some of the setup. I've been playing with VB4 for a few months now.

Well, I am willing to entertain any option so we can continue to have a place to meet.
I did send a email asking why I could not just RENEW my old OWNED license, but it was stated that we can stay as is, but to get UPDATES, you will need to upgrade to version 4. So, we can continue with what we have, but no more updates as they are now only supporting version 4. I have paid the 30.00 renewal fee per year the past few years as it was nothing, but now they are pretty much making all go to v4 if you want to have updates, most security in the future.

Figured it was about time to really think about this and BEFORE I start collecting money, know what direction we will be going in.

And yes, v4 forums and then use the vBAdvanced for the "wrap around" is fine, but seemed more useful using the VB wrap around, hence the 250 for the publishing suite. I welcome your help RR and it will be needed, I just thought the easy path is going with vB totaly and not have to worry about vBAvance which for now is free.

make sense?
